DNS records required for custom sender domain
Before Unipark can send emails from your domain, you need to add three types of DNS records. Your university's IT team typically manages DNS.
Required DNS records
1. SPF record (TXT)
Add or update your SPF TXT record to include Tivian's mail servers:
Include: _spf.tivian.com
Example: v=spf1 include:_spf.tivian.com ~all
2. DKIM records (CNAME)
You will receive two DKIM CNAME records from Unipark Support after requesting setup. Add these to your DNS exactly as provided.
3. DMARC record (TXT)
Add a DMARC policy TXT record. A minimal policy:
v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@your-university.de
After adding DNS records
- DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate.
- Once propagated, contact Unipark Support to confirm the records are in place and request backend activation.
Note: Adding DNS records alone does not activate your domain — backend activation by the Unipark team is also required.
