IP geolocation: tracking participant location in surveys

IP geolocation for survey participants

Unipark can record approximate geographic location data based on participants' IP addresses. This is useful for research that needs to track respondent location.

How to enable it

1. Go to Projekteigenschaften (Project properties).
2. Look for the setting "Standortinformationen der Teilnehmer über die IP-Adresse ermitteln" under Datenschutz / Tracking.
3. Enable the setting.

If you cannot find this setting, it may need to be enabled at the organization level by your admin or by Unipark Support.

GDPR requirement

Important: IP-based location tracking is personal data under GDPR. If you enable this feature, you must inform participants in your survey's privacy notice / data protection declaration. Failure to do so may constitute a GDPR violation.

If the setting is not visible in your project properties, contact support with your account name and installation to check whether it needs to be enabled at org level.
